Presswork, pressing of sheet metal

Presswork is the cutting and/or remodelling of a plate metal piecework in only one stroke. To this end a matrix is used that is pressed with great force on the metal sheet by the press.

Presswork is the most inexpensive method (only one single stroke), but is most of all suitable for very large series. This because of the press matrix costs and also the longer set up time.

Once the presswork has started, it is impossible to adapt the programme. The techniques laser cutting or punching do have this possibility, though.
