Deburring of metal
A burr is a sharp raised edge on a piece of metalwork originating from a cold metalworking such as punching, saw cutting etc. During casting and forging other kinds of burrs arise, because metal flows in between the parts of the mould or the matrix. Even during injection moulding a similar kind of burr can arise.
The removal of burrs is called ‘deburring’. The manner in which deburring takes place is determined by the piece of work’s form and the kind of material.
At our company, deburring takes place in an automatic barrel. By means of ceramic granules the grains are removed. For this we use the Rossler automatic drum machine.
Advantages of deburring in a barrel
- Deburring is done automatically
- Manual polishing is not necessary anymore
- Different kinds of parts can be deburred at the same time
